Gay Man to be Made Saint

Cofton Park in Birmingham, England, is being prepared for the beatification mass of Cardinal Newman. Tens of thousands will attend the historic mass in September 2010. Sadly, most of these faithful, God-fearing types, will be trying to forget the Catholic Church’s complicity, cover up and the support it gave (perhaps is still giving) its hundreds of paedophile priests. Even more sadly, most of the people attending the mass will not realise that Cardinal Newman, that good and great man, was a homosexual.

In fact, and this is the saddest aspect of the entire matter, the Catholic Church (and most other leading male-dominated organisations) has been able to mess with these people’s heads. To such an extent has the Catholic Church controlled beliefs around matters of orthodoxy that, for example, the thousands who turn up to Cofton Park will believe that paedophile priests are all gay men. Such a good job has the Catholic Church done that, despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary, it is straight (heterosexual) men who commit crimes such as murder, rape and child abuse, that very few Catholic believers are aware of this truth.

In fact, if those attending the beatification mass realized that they were there to witness the beatification of a gay man, you wouldn’t see them for dust.

How long has this cover up been going on? At least since the time of the first married gay bishops (that is Catholic bishops who were married to each other) in the sixth century. Like Cardinal Newman who wanted to be buried in the same coffin as his lover Father Aubrey St John, these earlier Catholic bishops wanted the same. They wanted to be buried in the same grave “as if they were in the same bed as they were in life” (quote from The Lives of the Holy Fathers of Merida).

Did You Know That...

...when the Catholic Church exhumed Cardinal Newman’s coffin, his body had disappeared? What explains this? Has (as the Church would like us to believe) God intervened and brought about the bodily assumption of the Cardinal? Is this mystery another part of the cover up? Is the Cardinal buried somewhere else with his gay partner Aubrey St John?
